Oh its hard to say, but it is that time of year. Fall is fast approaching and you need to pull your lift, dock, and store your boat and summer lakeshore toys and accessories. Around Bald Eagle Lake and other lakes with shoreline that is steep or hilly, a boat lift and dock removal service helps provide the task everybody treads. Miller Mobile Marine, and Twin Cities Docks provide a large fork lift like barge that easily removes lifts and docks, along with a labor crew with waders to remove quickly and effectively. We pay around $200/removal of lifts, and $700 and higher for docks. I have a local crew of young kids for my dock and that costs around $250.
I store my boat for roughly $150 for the winter, and that is typical for roughly 25 minutes or further away from the twin cities. When close to the city the costs can be $400 and higher for the winter. Unless of course you have that friend with the old barn, or pole barn that lets you store for free. Its always a good idea to remove the battery from your boat, and store in a cool dry place for the winter. I will also recharge my battery around beginning of February to help keep it healthy and fully charged. I find that helps extend my battery life. I also do the same for the Boat lift batteries. Additionally, this is a good time to remove all the green gunk that has accumulated on your lifts and boats and toys. Power washers work the best for most things, however this mild boat Mauriac acid highly diluted and wearing gloves is great for the bottom of your boat. A good cleaning and waxing and rub down with leather preservative or plastic coating Armorall, is the best time to do. I find a Mr. Clean white Easer sponge works really good for everything lakeshore, especially boats.
Ski's ropes, life jackets i find need to be hung or stored high and dry, after a quick cleaning. Ropes always need to be coiled and tangle free to last longer. The lake side lounge furniture should be cleaned and stored too! At the bare minimum covered with tarps if left down at the lake (but that will shorten their usable life.
I hope these tips help, and if you need any references to storing facilities, boat mechanics (needed to winterize your boat engine and etc.), or boat and dock removal in the White Bear Lake to Forest Lake to Chisago Lakes, please don't hesitate to call me, at 651-208-1701
